Sandbox
The two SP-API sandboxes, where to send a sandbox call, how it is authorized and its rate limit.
As Amazon publishes it
Every statement on this page restates Amazon's public documentation, linked under Sources.
Static and dynamic sandbox
Static sandbox
- How it answers: pattern matching. A request that matches the parameters defined in the API's JSON model (the
x-amzn-api-sandboxobject) returns the predefined mock response. - What a request must contain: exactly the parameter combination the JSON model defines.
Dynamic sandbox
- How it answers: a sandbox backend generates a response appropriate to the request parameters, possibly stateful.
- What a request must contain: the same parameters as a production request.
Endpoints
A sandbox call is the production call sent to a sandbox endpoint instead of the production one:
| Region | Sandbox endpoint |
|---|---|
| North America | https://sandbox.sellingpartnerapi-na.amazon.com |
| Europe | https://sandbox.sellingpartnerapi-eu.amazon.com |
| Far East | https://sandbox.sellingpartnerapi-fe.amazon.com |
Authorization and limits
- Sandbox calls need the same authorization as production calls (see Selling partner).
- A call that needs a Restricted Data Token takes the RDT from the production environment, even when the call goes to a hosted sandbox.
- The hosted sandboxes are rate limited at five requests per second with a burst of 15.
Not for load tests
The sandboxes are for testing functionality, not scalability.
